SQL Server 2016 BI Features

David Mellinger, Data Analytics Solution Architect Allegient

SQL Server 2016 is a huge, exciting release for SQL developers in general and BI professionals in particular. SQL Server 2016 added brand new features for Advanced Analytics and Big Data integration. It also gave new features or modernizing updates to tools which had been ignored since 2008-2012 (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS Tabular, and MDS). This release definitely has something in it for every SQL Server BI professional whether you want to get into something new or are really looking forward to helpful updates and enhancements to the traditional MSBI toolset. This session will give an overview of new SQL Server 2016 BI features and we’ll also demo some of these new features.

About David:
David started working with SQL Server as an application developer in 2003. He switched to focusing on the database about 10 years ago realizing most bottlenecks and potential for performance improvements could be addressed by using the database better. He has created and worked with ERP, e-commerce, middleware, spatial, and of course analytic (ODS, DW, etc) databases since that time. David is a SQL Server MCSE and Managing Consultant for Allegient’s Data Platform and Analytics practice. He loves working with businesses to get them setup to use technology for success. Diving into complex challenges or “can you\how can you do this” scenarios is fun for David. He is also passionate about mentoring and sharing experiences to help others (and himself!) grow.
